BE TRAVEL READY THIS SUMMER

As announced by the federal government, on June 20, 2022, the requirement to present proof of vaccination to board a flight departing a Canadian airport for domestic and outbound travel has been lifted from the check-in process.

Though proof of vaccination is not required to fly throughout Canada, many international destinations still require vaccination, testing and other COVID-related documentation for entry.

As a reminder, it is still mandatory for all travellers entering Canada to continue to submit their contact information, travel details, vaccination status and quarantine plan in ArriveCAN within 72 hours before their arrival to Canada. (see article below)

ArriveCan APP IMPROVEMENTS

The federal government is making "improvements" to ArriveCAN so that it's "faster and easier" to use in an attempt to reduce airport delays and wait times.

Travellers arriving at Toronto Pearson or Vancouver Airports will be able to save time by using the Advance CBSA Declaration optional feature in ArriveCAN to submit their customs and immigration declaration in advance of arrival.  Beginning June 28, 2022, this option will be available on the ArriveCAN mobile app in addition to the web version.

Frequent travellers are also encouraged to take advantage of the “saved traveller” feature in ArriveCAN. It allows a user to save travel documents and proof of vaccination information to reuse on future trips. The information is pre-populated in ArriveCAN the next time the traveller completes a submission, which Ottawa says will make it faster and more convenient for repeat arriving passengers.

Travellers must use ArriveCAN and submit their information within 72 hours before their arrival in Canada.

Not using ArriveCAN could mean being denied entry into Canada, not being eligible for the fully vaccinated travel exemption, facing additional delays at the border for questioning and potentially being subjected to fines or other enforcement actions.
